Apocalyptic Harvest Update
Harvest this year seems to be on par with 2020 more generally - 🙃! Fires are still raging across the state of California, with significant complexes near vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, and Santa Cruz Mountains. This has made it particularly challenging to monitor the status of the grapes and determine optimal pick dates.
That being said, harvest is the most exciting time of year for winemakers and 2020 is no exception. We formally kicked off the season last week, with the first pick of the year - our Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
The fires may force us to make some game-time decisions about changes to our 2020 production plans. However, we feel fortunate that we have built strong relationships with winegrape growers who have been good partners to us, including being honest about the impact of smoke in their vineyards.
